The VCH Aboriginal Health Team is comprised of a dedicated group of individuals with vast experience in the field of health. The four full-time members of our team each fall under one of three branches of VCH which focus on policy, planning, and operations. In addition to our full-time staff, there are also many individuals throughout VCH who work on specific initiatives within the various Health Service Delivery Areas.
Each member works within their section of VCH on specific tasks that help improve to improve the overall health status of Aboriginal people in the VCH Region, including fulfilling the overall goals of the VCH Aboriginal Health Strategic Plan. Only one area, Vancouver Community, works on planning and implementation initiatives for specific programming. All other members work primarily on planning, engagement, consultation, and implementation activities.
Committees
Both Vancouver Coastal Health and our Aboriginal Health Team are guided by two committees who each have a distinct role in helping to ensure that VCH is actively working towards fostering meaningful improvements in the health of Aboriginal people within the VCH region. The two committees are the Aboriginal Community Health Advisory Committee and the Aboriginal Coordinating Committee. In addition to these two committees, there is a Vancouver-focused committee, the Vancouver Community Aboriginal Program Advisory Committee.
