Both Vancouver Coastal Health and our Aboriginal Health Team are guided by two committees who each have a distinct role in helping to ensure that VCH is actively working towards fostering meaningful improvements in the health of Aboriginal people within the VCH region. The two committees are the Aboriginal Community Health Advisory Committee and the Aboriginal Coordinating Committee. In addition to these two committees, there is a Vancouver-focused committee, the Vancouver Community Aboriginal Program Advisory Committee.
Aboriginal Community Health Advisory Committee
The ACHAC is a part of VCH’s Community Engagement activities. Their purpose is to assist VCH in fulfilling the organizational mandate, to "establish mechanisms for ensuring public input throughout the Region" as well as to achieve VCH's goal of community engagement.
The Aboriginal Community Health Advisory Committee is advisory to the VCH Senior Executive Team and the VCH Aboriginal Coordinating Committee. Contact with the VCH Board is made through the Board Governance Committee; meeting minutes are provided to the Board Governance Committee and a member of this committee attends the bi-annual joint CHAC meetings.
